ADMISSION PROCEDUREtnau
Candidates desirous of applying to Undergraduate Programs have to get the necessary application from
The Dean(Agriculture) and Chairman Admissions

Application can be obtained by post by paying an application fee of Rs.670 (Rs.370 for SC/ST) as Demand Draft drawn in favor of Dean. The filled in application has to be sent to the Dean on or before May 31, 2011 for the current admission. The same application can be used for applying to all 12 undergraduate programs of TNAU. The completed online application should be printed in a laser printer for use. The filled in, printed and signed online application should be attached with necessary application fee of Rs. 600 (Rs.300 for SC/SCA/ST) as Demand Draft drawn in favor of Dean(Agriculture), TNAU, Coimbatore-3.

MODE OF SELECTION
Candidates will be selected on the basis of the ranks computed from marks in their qualifying examination as illustrated below:

Mark in each of the four qualifying subjects would be converted to 50 as follows:
Mark Obtained

Maximum Mark

Aggregate of the four subjects would be taken for ranking for maximum of 200 marks (50 x 4=200). In the case of qualifying examination other than Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary (HSC) Examination, normalization procedure as ordered in Tamil Nadu Admission in Professional Educational Institutions Act 2006 (Tamil Nadu Act No 3 of 2007), G.O. M.S.190 Agriculture (AP.6) Department dt. 16.05.2007 and G.O. M.S.191 Agriculture (AP.6) Department dt. 16.05.2007 shall be adopted for computing minimum eligibility and ranking.

In cases where more than one student have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se merit among such students shall be determined in the order of preference as specified below:

i) Marks out of 50 in Mathematics or Botany or Biology
ii) Marks out of 50 in Physics
iii) Marks out of 50 in Chemistry
iv) date of birth - eldest first

1. Eligibility
A pass in the Higher Secondary Course (10+2) or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to and fulfilling the following requirements.Candidates who have not studied X, XI and XII standards in Tamil Nadu should produce the certificate of permanent residence in Tamil Nadu in the prescribed format (enclosed with application) from competent authorities for considering the application.
A.  HSC/ Equivalent – Academic Stream
b) Eligible Subjects of Study in the Qualifying Examination
1. Mathematics or Botany or Biology as first subject
2. Physics as second subject
3. Chemistry as third subject
4. One Elective as fourth subject, the elective subject being any one of Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Home Science, Nursing or Nutritional Dietetics.
B.Higher Secondary - Vocational Stream:
As 5% of total seats are exclusively reserved for candidates under Vocational Stream, they are not considered under general merit and any of the other reservation categories, if any.

For the Higher Secondary Vocational Candidates, the list of eligible courses for various degree programmes are given below :

B.Sc.(Ag.)

C. Eligible Minimum Qualifying Marks
Open Competition (OC): 55% aggregate in the four qualifying subjects as mentioned above

Backward Class(BC) and Backward Class Muslims(BCM): 50% aggregate in the four qualifying subjects as mentioned above

Most Backward Class(MBC) / DE notified Community (DNC) : 45% aggregate in the four qualifying subjects as mentioned above

Scheduled Caste(SC)/ Scheduled Tribe(ST): A pass in qualifying examination with above four qualifying subjects

1. AGE LIMIT
Candidates should not have completed the age of 21 years on the first day of July of the admission year for all the courses. However, for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes there is no age limit
2. RESERVATIONS
i) The communal reservation will be followed as per the Government orders at the time of admission.
ii) Ten percent seats are filled by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi through a National Level Entrance Examination
iii) Certain number of seats are reserved for the following categories, as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
a. Ex-servicemen
Six Seats in B.Sc.(Ag.), One seat in B.Sc.(Hort) and One Seat in B.Tech. (Agrl. Eng.) Degree Programme is reserved for Son/Daughter of Ex-servicemen. The applicant should possess minimum qualifying marks and should attach proof along with application.
b. Differently Abled
Three Percent Seats are reserved in the Undergraduate Degree Programs for differently abled candidates. The applicant should possess minimum qualifying marks and should attach the certificate as prescribed. The Age is is relaxed upto 26 years.
c. Freedom Fighter
One Seat is reserved in B.Sc.(Ag.) for the descendents of Freedom Fighter. The applicant should possess minimum qualifying marks and a certificate to for this should be furnished from Tahsildar of the respective Taluk.
d. Eminent Sports Person
Four Seats in B.Sc.(Ag.) and one seat in B.Sc.(Hort.) are reserved under sports quota for eminent sports persons. The applicant should possess the minimum qualifying marks and attach proof along with copies of the certificate issued by the Sport Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. Certificates from National State District and Divisions will be considered on the order of merit and hence copies of all relevant certificates should be attached.
